Module learning aims

Providing students with knowledge about teaching and assessment techniques and about the principles of planning teaching at primary and secondary school levels; Developing the skill of teaching pronunciation; Developing the skill of using various techniques to teach communicative skills; Developing the skill of assessing and testing L2 progress; Developing the skill of analyzing, selecting and designing teaching materials; Developing the skill of planning lessons; Enhancing a reflective approach toward one's own teaching; Getting students acquainted with the ELT literature; Developing the skill of collaboration.

Learning outcomes

After the course, a student:
Can list and use various pronunciation teaching techniques;
Knows the principles and techniques of teaching receptive and production skills and can plan lessons developing these sills;
Knows the sources of language errors and can correct them;
Knows and understands the difference between formative and summative assessment and can use appropriate techniques for each;
Can lisy types of tests and design tests to assess skills and subsystems;
Can critically evaluate the teaching materials available on the market and design one's own materials;
Can plan different types of lessons.
