Module learning aims

Providing students with knowledge about the teaching methods, techniques, and didactic materials appropriate to teach English at primary and secondary school levels; Revising knowledge about the principles of teaching language subsystems (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation) and developing communicative skills; Enhancing students' knowledge and awareness about the need to develop autonomous learning; Revising and deepening students' knowledge about error correction and assessment techniques; Raising students' awareness of the role of reflectivity and life-long learning in foreign language instruction.

Learning outcomes

After the course, the student:
knows and can describe the theoretical foundations and typical teaching techniques for the most significant L2 teaching methods;
knows the theoretical foundations and practical implications of communicative language teaching;
knows the theoretical foundations and practical implications of developing the four communicative skills;
understands the relevance of learner and teacher autonomy, and of professional teacher development;
can use digital technology in language teaching.

Assessment criteria

Written tests, projects, multimedia presentations.
