Diachronic Polish 03-HJP-34
A student: 1) gains basic knowledge on how the Polish language is situated among other languages of the world; how the literary Polish was formed and developed; how Polish lexical system has been changing; how Polish ortography was formed etc. 2) understands the difference between synchronic and diachronic description of Polish; is aware of the general European contexts of the Polish language development and how it is related to civilizational changes; 3) can read, understand, summarize and comment upon theoretical texts on diachronic linguistics; is capable of using basic terms of this discipline and of discussing its topics both in individual presentation (in oral and written form) and during group work.
