Course learning content:
- presentation of literature of countries on the Balkan Peninsula in chronological and typological approach on the basic level; showing crucial - phenomena and literary traditions,
- presentation of literary contexts of countries on the Balkan Peninsula on the basic level,
- presentation of literary connections between countries on the Balkan Peninsula with Eastern and Western civilization circles on the basic level,
- presentation of literary connections between countries on the Balkan Peninsula and Europe on the basic level,
- presentation of discussed literary traditions in context of national and transnational ideas,
- using properly basic notions and terms in the field of theory of literature and history of literature.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- define and describe basic phenomena and literary traditions of Balkan cultures,
- characterize main contexts of Balkan literatures on the basic level,
- get knowledge on the basic level in the field of specificity of historical-literary process and models of periodization related to literature of countries on the Balkan Peninsula,
- get skill at connecting specific literary phenomena of countries on the Balkan Peninsula with analogous phenomena in other European literatures,
- get basic knowledge related to the most representative authors and literary works influencing particular literary systems of countries on the Balkan Peninsula,
- get skill at analyzing, interpreting and evaluating independently literary works of counties on the Balkan Peninsula,
- use properly basic notions and terminology in the field of theory of literature and history of literature of countries on the Balkan Peninsula.
Assessment criteria
Assessment criteria:
very good (bdb; 5,0): excellent familiarity with problems discussed during the classes; very good skills at analyzing and interpreting literary texts; very good ability to express verbally and in writing opinion related to South Slavonic literature.
good plus (+db; 4,5): as above, except for minor deficiencies and inaccuracies.
good (db; 4,0): possible larger scale of deficiencies: weaker skills at analyzing, interpreting and at expressing verbally and in writing opinion on South Slavonic literature.
satisfactory plus (+dst; 3,5): satisfactory familiarity with problems discussed during the classes; average skills at analyzing and interpreting literary texts; satisfactory ability to express verbally and in writing opinion on South Slavonic literature.
satisfactory (dst; 3,0): as above, except for minor deficiencies and inaccuracies.
unsatisfactory (ndst; 2,0): unsatisfactory familiarity with problems discussed during the classes.
