Professional status:
A graduate of the MA studies in sociology has specialist knowledge and competences enabling him/her to function effectively in various social roles, in particular a that of a social researcher and an organizer of social life. The graduate is prepared for independent implementation of social research. S/he can design qualitative and quantitative studies. S/he can use the basic techniques of field research and can interpret the obtained results. The graduate can use theoretical achievements of the discipline and analyze empirical data by referring to theoretical concepts and models. In particular, s/he is able to design, monitor and evaluate programs for solving current social problems. The graduate is prepared to work in all types of institutions, both in the public sector (government and local government administration), and in the so-called third sector (non-governmental organizations). The graduate is prepared to undertake third-cycle (doctoral) studies.
