The second cycle programme in History with a specialisation in classical culture increases and broadens the body of knowledge in general humanities and offers a detailed knowledge of ancient culture from the field of history, classical philology and archaeology. Postgraduate research graduates will have enhanced their language skills and intercultural abilities. This will have allowed them to participate in the formation of contemporary culture at the local and supra-local level. Graduates will have mastered research methods, terminology and skills typical of historical, philological and archaeological sciences in the context of in-depth knowledge of their subject matter and methodology. Owing to the individual course of study, they will have acquired an ability to plan their career responsibly. The second cycle programme in History with a specialisation in classical culture will have equipped graduates in problem-oriented interdisciplinary competencies that will enable them to comprehensively analyse, interpret and convey advanced knowledge of Antiquity as the foundation of European culture. Graduates will have acquired practical knowledge including not only an advanced ability to analyse and interpret a variety of sources, but also such universal skills as an in-depth ability to accurately express their thoughts in speech and writing and create a variety of texts, including research papers. The master’s degree level programme in History with a specialisation in classical culture will have prepared graduates to undertake independent research, continue their education in a third-cycle programme or work in scholarly, cultural or educational institutions, specifically those engaged in the promotion of cultural and historical heritage. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme allows for the development of attitudes based on such values as, e.g., independence, creativity, responsibility and consistency. Through the participation in interdisciplinary seminars graduates will have developed self-presentation and teamwork skills.
