Professional status:
The graduate has more extensive knowledge – in comparison to first-cycle studies – in the area of international relations, in particular in the field of international economic, social, political and legal issues. He/She is aware of the theory and practice of international relations as well as of the theory and practice of political and business decision-making. He/She possesses analytical and methodological skills allowing him/her to work in posts that require conscious, rational and accurate assessments and opinions. He/She has also had the opportunity to develop personal responsibility and initiative. The graduate’s competence enables him/her to work in institutions and enterprises dealing with international trade; international organisations and institutions; state administration entities dealing with foreign and economic policy; research and expertise centres dealing in international relations; diplomacy and the mass media: press, radio and television. The graduate has had the opportunity to develop habits of continuous learning and professional advancement; he/she is prepared to undertake research challenges or continue his/her education in third-cycle (doctoral) studies.
The purpose of the specialisation was to define and arouse the specific interests of the student and provide the necessary knowledge, teach the skills and develop the competencies necessary for professional performance in the selected market labour sector.
A graduate who specialised in Eastern and Southern Asia speaks Chinese at an elementary level. He/She also possesses knowledge of the modern history of the states of the region and their role in international political and economic relations. He/She is able to identify specific features of Asian political systems, and the principles of efficient interpersonal communication and conducting business activity expected in this region. He/She is aware of the fundamental values of the cultural life and religions of South East Asian countries. He/She is ready to work for enterprises and other organisations cooperating with Asian partners, as well as in the representation of Asian entities located in Poland and other countries of the European Union.
A graduate who specialised in Global Economy and International Business possesses the knowledge and skills enabling him/her to expand and conduct the modern foreign trade department of a business, develop marketing strategies and identify potential foreign partners. The graduate is also able to adapt appropriate internationalisation strategies to the selected foreign market. The graduate is able to easily exchange business correspondence with foreign partners, conduct cross-cultural negotiations and assess the financial aspect of international ventures. The graduate is also able to conduct business activity in EU markets and outside of the EU, and assess international economic conditions.
A graduate who specialised in Diplomacy and Consular Relations possesses the knowledge and skills to start work in internal and external bodies dealing with national foreign policy and in other institutions offering posts related to dealing with citizens, institutions and companies that cooperate with their counterparts abroad.
A graduate who specialised in European Cooperation has been prepared to work in bodies of self-government and national administration, in other institutions and organisations that cooperate with their partners in the European Union, in the administration of such organisations, in organisations and institutions that cooperate with the state and self-government administration and in businesses seeking personnel who are familiar with European realities.
A graduate who specialised in The Middle East speaks Arabic and Hebrew at an elementary level. He/She also possesses knowledge of the modern history of the states of the region and their role in international political and economic relations. He/She is able to identify specific features of Middle East political systems, and the principles of efficient interpersonal communication and conducting business activity expected in this region. He/She is aware of the fundamental values of the cultural life and religions of people in the Middle East. He/She is ready to work for enterprises and other organisations cooperating with their Middle East partners, and also as a representative of Middle East entities located in Poland or other countries of the European Union.
