Professional status:

Graduates of the Master’s degree in Mathematics have general knowledge of the basic branches of mathematics and possess the in-depth specialist knowledge of mathematical analysis, algebra and number theory, geometry, discrete mathematics or the theory of probability as well as mathematical statistics. They are aware of the current development directions in modern mathematics. They can solve advanced accounting tasks from the selected departments and they have developed the ability to create hypotheses and verify them. They are able to formulate original problems in the language of mathematics as well as the issues of specific sciences (especially exact sciences) and they know how to search for solutions. The graduates understand the need and have the skills of correct justification and accurate reasoning, have developed the ability to think critically and verify hypotheses. Depending on the chosen specialization, they acquire competences related to the development of modern mathematics (pure mathematics), to the operation and tools of the modern market (financial and actuarial mathematics) or data analysis and statistical reasoning (statistics and data analysis). The graduates of mathematics usually find work in the enterprises operating on the IT market, or in the companies related to banking and finance, as well as in the entities providing consulting and advisory services. They work for the institutions which use advanced statistical methods and data analysis, and in the entities conducting research and development activities. They have the opportunity to work in the scientific institutions as the ones who conduct research or research and teaching activities.
