Professional status:

The student who has completed the second-degree level programme in History with a teaching specialisation, the postgraduate research graduate has acquired an in-depth, comprehensive and specialist knowledge of the history of Poland and the world from early Antiquity until the early twenty-first century and a unique mastery of knowledge, competence and research skills in the field of auxiliary sciences of history, pedagogy, psychology, general didactics and the didactics of history and civics. The graduate shows the capacity for effective communication, negotiation and persuasiveness. The graduate has acquired fluency in a foreign language at B2 plus level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as adopted by the Council of Europe. Humanistic knowledge, knowledge and competence in the field of psychology, pedagogy and teaching and a working knowledge of a modern language of the graduate’s choice lay the foundations for professional career in teaching. Knowledge and attainment of research skills in the field of historical research and historical education have equipped the graduate with the competence to conduct research in these fields. Computer literacy acquired through the studies has equipped the graduate with the capacity to adapt achieved skills to the tasks set by employers. Owing to a significant number of written assignments, the graduate demonstrates great writing proficiency and is able to efficiently express his/her thoughts in writing. Having completed teaching training practice, the graduate has acquired competence in the field of psychology, pedagogy and teaching. Upon successful fulfilment of all requirements of the second-degree level programme, the graduate is awarded with master’s degree. The graduate has been qualified to teach in all types of school. Having successfully completed the second-degree level programme in History with a teaching specialisation, the postgraduate research graduate demonstrates an in-depth and thorough mastery of a body of knowledge and practical skills in the field of teaching and learning history and history and civics, including: 1.the capacity for a comprehensive attainment of school’s objectives and targets pertaining to education, socialisation and care; 2.competence in imparting his/her knowledge, continuous improvement of his/her knowledge and an ability to integrate knowledge from different fields; 3.psychological and pedagogical competence essential to attain school’s objectives and targets pertaining to socialisation and care; 4.the capacity to employ knowledge and skills in the field of general didactics, the didactics of history and the didactics of civics, which permit an effective attainment of objectives and targets pertaining to education, such as assisting students in the development of their cognitive interests and their intellectual development, the capacity to evaluate students’ achievements and his/her own practice; 5.competence to conduct historical research, also in the field of historical education; 6.competence in information technologies and the capacity to use them in the teaching process.
