Basic performance studies theory. Performance studies as a new domain of research in humanities. Performative breakthrough in arts and humanities, experimental theatre of the 1960s and 1970s, performance art and "paratheatre" as artistic sources of performance studies. Chosen cultural performances: celebrities and their image, rock concert, sport performance live and broadcasted, fashion show, political performances, festival as a performance.

After finishing the course a student has got expanded knowledge about the position of performance studies in the general context of cultural studies. S/he can also properly use the basic terminology of performance studies.
S/he has got expanded knowledge on the links between performance studies and cultural anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, linguistics, art studies and political studies.
Can critically analyze cultural performances.
Assessment criteria
Intensive participation in discussions, an essay.
