Culture of Verbal Communication 16-KKW-11
During the classes, students exercizes his/her ability to formulate linguistically correct texts (in the terms of ortography, grammar and style), corrects samples of texts containing lianguage mistakes, gets aquainted with practical demands of language savior-vivre. Student takes part in discussions regarding changes in the norms of language correctness and politeness, dofferent ways of judgeing the later depandign on the target group and the medium in whihc the text is formulated. Furtheremore, students get aquainted with a basic terminology regarding the culture of communication (in the extent which enables him/her to take part effectively in the discussions held in the class). Readings concentrate on teh matters of language correctness and politeness. Credits are granted on the basis of presentation and a test.

In the end of the course, studetns should be able to:
- formulate polite and lincuistically correct written texts of different kinds (practically-oriented, e.g. an invitation, an official e-mail etc);
- formulate polite and correct oral text of official character,
- explain which elements of an expression make up a cultural and polite text,
- correct gramatical, ortographical and stylistic mistakes in texts given,
- understand a depandance of the contemporary text of practical sort ans its style on the changes within the contemporary culture.
Assessment criteria
Formative notes: exercises made during the classes.
Summary notes: a note on presentation and on final test.
