Learning outcomes
After successfully completing the course the student:
1. Is able to recall and recognize major rules applied when producing a written translation from Polish into English.
2. Is able to recall and recognize major rules applied when producing an oral translation from Polish into English.
3. Knows the rules applied in written translation.
4. Knows the rules applied in oral translation in a consecutive mode.
5. Is able to translate texts written in Polish into English within the range of selected register.
6. Is able to translate orally (in a consecutive mode) speeches delivered in Polish into English within the range of selected register.
7. Is able to use with understanding newly learned English vocabulary from selected registers
8. Is able to effectively communicate in English in various communicative situations applying newly learned vocabulary during translation practice from Polish into English.
Assessment criteria
Methods of assessment:
Formative – discussion during class time; checking pre-class preparation (short tests at the beginning of classes checking knowledge of vocabulary); observation during translation tasks and corrective feedback
