Introduction to audiovisual translation 15-WDTA-TLU-11
The main aims of the course include familiarising the students with the main types of audiovisual translation (AVT), such as subtitling, dubbing, voice-over and audio description, developing their basic skills of translating audiovisual texts, researching information, presenting, and developing team work skills. During the course the students will be listen to the teacher’s presentations on selected AVT topics, translate audiovisual texts and do presentations related to the linguistic, cultural and technical aspects of AVT. In order to complete the course, the students are required to submit assignments on time, participate in discussions and pass tests. Upon course completion the students will know the main AVT types, will be familiar with the fundamentals of translating audiovisual texts and will know how to research a topic and give an effective presentation.
