Introduction to Canadian literature in English 15-WDLK-KAN-11
This class offers a survey course of the history of Canadian literature written in English from the early pioneer texts to the contemporary 21st century literature. The main aim of the class is to offer students of Canadian specialization a possibility to read and analyze the most important texts in Canadian literature in a chronological order locating them within the broader context of the literary history of North America and Anglo-Saxon culture. This class type of course is a supplement to lectures on the history of Canadian literature.
Students are required to read all the texts critically, actively participate in class discussions and pass class quizzes and the final test. Reading all assigned texts is obligatory and credits will be given on the basis of students’ active participation in the discussions as well as the results of the tests. The whole course (classes and lectures) ends with a written examination.
