Theory of translation and translation strategies 15-TTIST-TP-11

Aims of the course: to familiarise students with some crucial theoretical concepts related to translation and interpreting; to introduce and discuss the concept of translation strategies; to identify translation strategies in English <> Polish translation; to practice translation with special regard to translation strategies. The course ends with a final test.

Module learning aims

(in Polish) 1) przekazanie wiedzy z zakresu teorii i strategii tłumaczenia, 2) wyrobienie umiejętności lokalizowania i rozwiązywania problemów tłumaczeniowych, 3) wyrobienie umiejętności rozpoznawania strategii tłumaczeniowych w tekstach docelowych, 4) wyrobienie umiejętności stosowania wybranych strategii tłumaczeniowych w praktyce, 5) wyrobienie umiejętności poprawnego przekładu w parze językowej polski-angielski, 6) wyrobienie umiejętności planowania, kontrolowania i poprawiania własnych tłumaczeń.
