Technical translation (NL-PL) 15-TSNLPL-NID-12
An intensive course that focuses on fundamental principles, general methods, and the use and development of lexical materials in translation. In this course, students will develop linguistic competencies required in translation, including reading comprehension, summary writing, text analysis, and use of mono- and bilingual dictionaries. Students will learn some basic skills for translators, and practice several types of translation. The course focuses on Dutch-Polish translation applied in several fields (e.g. finances, new media, and industry). Focus will be on the acquisition of specialized knowledge (both linguistic and extralinguistic) and the delivery of professional documents in real-market conditions.
