M.A. Seminar 15-SM-NID-14
(First semester of the first year of a two-year MA seminar in Dutch Studies. Continued in the next semester as 15-SM-NID-24, then in the second year as 15-SM-NID-34 i 15-SM-NID-44.)
The purpose of the seminar is to prepare and defend the MA thesis, written in Dutch, under the supervision of, and in accordance with the guidelines provided by the academic teaching the seminar. Part of the seminar will be devoted to discussion of the formal requirements (how to prepare the MA thesis). Students will get familiar with examples of MA theses. After completing the course students will be able to explain principles of scientific thinking and working methods, search for information and source literature, plan and carry out the different stages of a research project according to deadlines, report on the progress of their research in both spoken and written form, write a research plan and various thesis drafts, critically evaluate and support other students' work, plan a research project and carry it out stage by stage, search for relevant research literature to establish a theoretical framework for the study and evaluate critically past research and formulate a set of research questions (or hypotheses).
