English as a foreign language (Translation) 15-PNJA-TR-ZL-12
(First semester of a two-semester course for Gr. 1 ("Teaching"). Next semester: 15-PNJA-TR-ZL-22.)
This course is a part of the General English Course – its aim is not to turn students into professional translators and interpreters, but rather to draw their attention to traps and difficulties of PL-EN, EN-PL translation and to acquaint them with some new vocabulary items that may become useful during other exams. Other aims of the course include: getting acquainted with some basic theoretical aspects of translation and interpretation, learning about translation strategies, practising written and oral translation, practising communicating in an effective way. In order to get a positive grade in the course its participants have to: prepare for vocabulary quizzes every 2 weeks, prepare written homework, prepare for the end-of-semester tests, attend classes and participate in them actively.
