Literature in English: genres and conventions 15-LIEGC-ES-11
The course is devoted to the study of genres and conventions in literature in English. During the class we discuss the theoretical notions concerning various literary genres and the conventions used in contemporary as well as older literatures in English. The materials selected show the students the way in which authors use certain conventions, and readers or viewers (films are also created according to certain generic requirements) recognize. The course starts with a chronological presentation of the developments of genres and then continues with the presentations of genres and conventions in specific texts.
