Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
Knows the aims of teaching English in the Polish school at primary and secondary levels in relation to educational documentation, including the National Curriculum and selected syllabuses;
Can effectively plan lessons considering individual variation in learners, including learners with special educational needs;
Can formulate explanations, questions, instructions and feedback in L2 and L1, taking into account learners' level;
Can use appropriate techniques of introducing and practicing language subsystems and skills;
Can design and implement activities developing learners' learning strategies;
Knows and understands the sources of language errors and can effectively use various correction techniques;
Knows and understands different types of assessment and testing, and can design appropriate tools for the assessment of learners' knowledge and skills;
Can critically evaluate teaching materials and adapt them to their own needs, as well as designing their own materials;
Can plan an L2 lesson and a sequence of lessons with the use of appropriately selected audiovisual aids, including ICT technology;
Understands the need to systematically develop their own teaching skills.
