Content:
During the course students are familiarized with the subsequent stages of the research process, examples of empirical studies and the practical aspects of the design of research projects.
Research desing and detailed description of its stages.
Examples of empiricas studies in linguistics done with following methods: experiment, survey, corpus research, lexical research, content analysis, interpretative research.

After the course the student:
Knows the stages of the design of empirical research.
Can name the decisions taken at the subsequent stages of research based on articles reporting results of research.
Can name the advantages and disadvantages of the methodological choices based on on articles reporting results of research.
Is familiar with the research methods used in linguistics and can give examples of their application.
Can design, conduct and report her/his own research study on a selected topic.
Assessment criteria
Active participation in the classes, auto-assessment of the presented research project.
