Learning outcomes
Students can understand a wide range of complex, longer factual and literary texts, being aware of nuances of meaning.
Students can understand extended speech on a variety of factual and abstract topics, detecting implied meanings.
Students can express themselves fluently
and spontaneously for social and academic purposes – also with native speakers of German – using appropriate style for a given context and paying attention to accuracy.
Students can write clear, concise texts on a variety of topics, paying attention to accuracy. They can write practised genres in an appropriate style and register, making effective use of linking devices.
Students have gained extensive cultural knowledge of the German-speaking countries.
Assessment criteria
Term assessment based on: a series of fragmentary tests and an obligatory reading, oral presentations and essays.
Max. 2 absencies allowed per semester.
The final grade based on the result of the final examination.
