Literature II 09-L2-4MH-22
The class begins by characterizing the essay as an artistic and philosophical literary genre. The period studied ranges from early twentieth-century modernism to the present. The thematic diversity of the essay, its function in the social history of the American continent, and the different persuasive strategies of individual authors are emphasized. The writers discussed are: A. Reyes, V. Ocampo, E. Martínez Estrada, G. Mistral, E. Sábato, A. Uslar Pietri, O. Paz, M. Glantz, C. Naranjo Coto and others.
The list of compulsory texts will be provided at the beginning of the course.
