Socio-Political Aspects of Modern India 09-E-SPAMI-11
To understand the socio-political situation in modern India one has to examine changes which has taken place in the Indian society from the inception of the Independence, i.e. the Partition of the British Raj - till today. In the course of our studies we will focus on India?s internal problems: regional differences, challenges of the political system, situation of scheduled tribes and castes, position of religious minorities, women and children, economic issues and ? to widen the perspective ? India?s troubled relations with neighboring countries (Pakistan, China and Sri Lanka).
Assessment criteria
Active participation in discussions.
Presentation/review of a chosen article.
Final essay.
