Some inflectional categories (mood, number, case, voice, tense, aspect, gradation, definiteness). Grammaticalization. From enclisis to proclisis. Elements of syntax: participial constructions, conjunctions, particles, word order.

Student can identify selected archaisms and innovations within the Baltic languages against a background of the IE protolanguage; indicate similarities and differences within the grammatical categories; know rudiments of the etymological analysis.
Assessment criteria
Receving a credit for a class on the basis of passing tests, preparing and presenting one report, and a final exam.
