Sociology of the City 08-SODU-SMI
The lecture aims to present social processes taking place in the urban space. The city is described as a socio-spatial system which phenomenon is caused by demographic, social and economic processes. The course presents contemporary city in a historical perspective, indicating its diversity in comparison to the past. The course presents analytical tools for describing social processes taking place in modern cities. Knowledge of those tools allows to take a critical look at the modern city, especially from the perspective of social problems. The role of analysis is to generate solutions for the critical problems facing the modern city.

05 interprets current situation in foreign cities through the prism of different sociospatial relations
06 combines effects of political decisions and economic processes in Polish cities with sociospatial context.
07 is aware of the impact of the past events on the present state of socio-spatial Polish cities
08 is aware of the relationship between urban changes and the socio-economic development in local and global perspectives
09 can produce scenarios of potential socio-spatial Polish cities
