Visual Research in Practice 08-KUDU-BWP
The aim of the course is to develop the skills of conducting cultural studies based on qualitative visual research, transfer of knowledge about basic methodological concepts related to the modern use of visual research,
developing the ability to interpret visual data in the context of cultural studies (analysis of iconographic sources, photography, video material), transfer of knowledge about the technical aspects of using visual methods in research (visual conventions, using a camera and video camera), implementation to conduct research using material visual (documentation, participating research)
developing a critical perspective on the phenomena of contemporary visual culture, familiarizing with ethical and legal problems related to conducting visual research (use of found material, copyright, right to privacy and image), preparation for conducting your own research project.

Learning outcomes
After completing the module (subject) and confirming the achievement of learning outcomes, the student has expanded knowledge of methods of cultural studies research, correctly assigns theoretical concepts to research trends, knows and understands methods of analysis and interpretation of visual material, and correctly assigns them to the research tradition, recognizes advanced relationships between formulation research problem, choosing the research method, efficiently uses technical documentation tools: camera and video camera and creatively uses them, uses technological tools: computer programs for processing visual material understands the importance of cooperation with various groups, actively communicates and cooperates with urban communities in conducted research projects, is able to prepare and carry out a joint research project and efficiently communicates with colleagues during its implementation and, is able to develop and present publicly his own research project and moderate discussions around the analyzed problems.
Assessment criteria
The condition of obtaining credit is to prepare a research project using the methods of refography. The final presentation should be prepared in the form of a poster. Projects should be implemented in groups. Participants decide on the topic (e.g. urban space analysis, identity, ecology).
