Child abuse and neglect in social and psychological perspective 08-ChA
The course is an introduction into the field of child abuse and neglect problem, one of intensively discussed global social phenomena. The main goal of the lecture is to verify students' common knowledge and myths about the problem and to deliver objective up-to-date information used in explaining and preparing interventions in this area. Child abuse and neglect is presented as a harmful element of child?s social, everyday interactions, risky for the course of its development. Beside discussion on theoretical bases, such as terminology, origins, consequences and interventions, students, in international and intercultural group, will be encouraged to discuss the meaning of social norms and bringing up traditions in understanding this unfavourable social phenomenon and in preventing it.
