Quaternary palaeoecology – its principles and scope of research. Palaeoecological methods. Fossil archives. Global environmental changes in Quaternary. Climate changes in the last glacial and Holocene. Anthropocene; man as an environmental factor. History of natural and anthropogenic changes of vegetation. Interactions between man and environment in the prehistory and historical times. Development of cultural landscape in Central Europe. Habitation processes and aquatic environments.

Learning outcomes
Students gain the basic knowledge of natural environments and are able to indicate complex interactions between human culture and nature in the context of time, in local, regional and global scales. Students gain the skills necessary for interdisciplinary studies in environmental archaeology in the future.
