Learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student should: 1) have a basic knowledge about the history of kinship studies and their importance for the advancement of socio-cultural anthropology; 2) know basic differences in theoretical and methodological approaches in the studies of kinship; 3) understand the specificity of the anthropological interpretation of kinship as a cultural category; 4) know terminology developed and used in the anthropology of kinship; 5) have a basic knowledge about types of kinship systems, kinship groups, marriage and family; 6) understand connections between kinship and social and political organisation; 7) have basic ideas about contemporary directions of kinship studies, with regard to social changes and emergence of new research areas.
Assessment criteria
Evaluation will be based on the result of a written exam.
5,0 - excellent knowledge
4,5 - very good knowledge
4,0 - good knowledge
3,5 - satisfactory knowledge but with serious deficiencies
3,0 - satisfactory knowledge but with many faults
2,0 - unsatisfactory knowledge
