Country and Culture of the Balkan Peninsula Nations 03-WKC-12CSDL
Student: 1) gain basic knowledge of South Slavic states from areas of geography, history, politics, and culture, problem of Slavic ethnogenesis, South Slavic states' development, Turkish expansion and its influence on history and culture of Balkan nations, renaissance of Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian national self-awareness, South Slavic cultural heritage, and formation of national mythology and modern functionality of that mythology. 2) understanding: ethnic-culture as the history of South Slavic political and social context from the Middle Ages to modern time as well as the configuration of modern South Slavic national ideology from the beginning of their states' development until today. 3) skills learned: proper understanding and analysis of geopolitical, cultural, national, religious, linguistic, and demographic problems of the Balkan peninsula and Central Europe; develop oral statements in the form of individual presentations and/or participating in discussions; collecting and using scientific information; systemizing general knowledge; making conclusions; working in teams.
