Polish for Academic Purposes 03-PAK-21

The course aims at providing students with basic knowledge of the discourse connected with academic everyday life. Students are capable of understanding and using academic vocabulary, regulations and syllabuses, as well as acquire rudimentary skills in discussing issues within their field of study.

The course focuses on building students' academic Polish and introducing skills that will help them to prepare for succesful study at university and to deal with most situations likely to arise while studying Polish for International Students at Adam Mickiewicz University.

Learning outcomes

Students who completed this course are able to:
- describe in Polish their university, faculty and their field of study
- write an official application concerning their requests, addressed to university authorities
- have a conversation in Polish on various topics related to students' life and their field of studies
- address academic staff using proper forms
- demonstrate knowledge of UAM regulations and apply them in particular situations
- read and interpret an easy literary text in Polish

- student's activity during group work
- individual presentation (oral, multimedia)
- oral or written test
