The student: 1. S/he obtains basic knowledge in the field of: the theoretical aspects of the term verbal folklore; folklore literature - the definitions, characteristics and classification, records of the Balkan verbal folklore; genealogical aspects of the most important genres of the verbal literature; 2. S/he can understand: the meaning of studies of the traditional Balkan folklore in the language and literature of individual Slavic and non-Slavic nations of the Balkan Peninsula; the specifics of studies of traditional folklore literature, the essence of relations between "written" and "spoken" literature; 3. S/he possesses the abilities: to read and understand scientific works in the field of folklore studies and to summarise and comment on them; to use the terms from the field of folklore studies in a correct way; to analyse verbally and in a written way works from the field of Balkan folk literature; to show the differences and the similarities between the elements of traditional folk literature of the nations inhabiting the Balkan Peninsula.
